The North Hudson Sewer Authority ("NHSA") closed on an $20,000,000 loan with the NJ Water Bank to comply with the EPA's mandate to reduce combined sewer overflows (CSOs) to the Hudson River. The NHSA's long-term control plan proposes the conversion of flow from an existing outfall to a new stormwater pump station necessitating the construction of a new outfall for the Adams Street WWTP. The new outfall was designed to convey plant effluent flows up to 52 million gallons per day ("MGD"), 20 MGD more than current 32 MGD wet weather flows. This project supports the NJDEP permit requirements to eliminate, or capture for treatment, a minimum of 85% of combined sewage for a typical year.
