The Borough of Glen Ridge recently closed on a $1,700,000 loan with the NJ Water Bank to replace systemwide water meters. The project entails the installation of approximately 2,250 water meters and radio frequency meter interface units ("RFMIUs") In the Borough's water service area. The RFMIUs are transmitted directly to handheld, vehicle-based readers or fixed data collectors. Accurate readings of water usage will impose water conservation measures on customers, resulting in a decrease in wastewater return. This project will increase operational reliability and efficiency, enhance overall system integrity, and reduce the amount of unaccounted for water in the system.
