The Borough of Glen Ridge Water Department (the Borough) recently closed on a $2,367,744 loan with the NJ Water Bank to replace approximately 651 existing residential lead service lines and 15 fire hydrants throughout the Borough. The Borough is currently in the process of preparing and implementing a water system Asset Management Plan which recommends the on-going efforts to improve the reliability of the water supply, protect public health and ensure permit compliance.
The Glen Ridge Water Department is a small water system (serving a population of 7,500 (<10,000) qualifying them for a NANO loan and potential principal forgiveness at long-term closing. The existing lead service line connections will be replaced with copper piping, along with all associated corporations, curb stops and required couplings. The existing fire hydrants will be replaced with DIP laterals, valves, thrust blocks, fittings and all incidental appurtenances.
