Lake Stockholm Systems, Inc., recently closed on a $1,687,832 loan with the NJ Water Bank to address excessive levels of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances ("PFAS"). This group of chemicals is commonly used in a wide range of industrial processes and is found in many consumer products. PFAS can penetrate the water supply and affect drinking water quality.
The proposed project involves the installation of new PFOA removal technology (reverse osmosis (RO)/nanofiltration) to the existing Lake Stockholm treatment system along with a new Aqueous Electrostatic Concentrator (AEC). A new structure will house all existing and proposed treatment equipment, and a backup generator will be replaced on site. The proposed project will enable the Lake Stockholm water system to comply with the Federal and State Safe Drinking Water Act requirements.
