Medford Lakes Borough recently closed on a $6.1 million loan with the NJ Water Bank to rehabilitate and repair its existing sanitary sewage collection system located throughout its services area. The proposed work is necessary to rehabilitate the deteriorating collection system which was originally constructed in the 1930's and last upgraded in the 1960's and 1970's. The project includes lining 110,000 linear feet (LF) of sewer pipe, repairing and/or replacing 5,000 LF of sewer pipe, lining the interior of approximately 500 manholes, repairing and/or replacing 20 manholes and testing and sealing approximately 1,350 lateral connections. The proposed project will minimize blockages and eliminate potential sewage spills to assure proper functioning of the system and minimize impact to environmentally sensitive areas such as surrounding groundwater and adjacent water bodies.
