The Passaic Valley Water Commission ("PVWC") recently closed on a $52.98 million loan to upgrade its water storage system. This project will replace the Levine Reservoir, an open-air, 19.2-million-gallon water reservoir, with two covered concrete storage tanks, each holding 2.5 million gallons. The upgrade also includes new 48-inch piping and a facility with updated chemical treatment systems.
This project is required under an agreement with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) to comply with federal water safety regulations. Covering the water supply will help improve water quality and safety for the community.
