Moorestown Township recently closed on a $20,880,000 loan with the NJ Water Bank to upgrade the North Church Street Water Treatment Plant (WTP). The project entails the rehabilitation and upgrade of the existing 2.88 million gallons per day water treatment plant. The installation of a new filtration device will remove radium and gross alpha-emitting concentration. GreensandPlus (trademark) pressure filters will be installed for the removal of manganese. An advanced oxidation subsystem using ultraviolet light and hydrogen peroxide will be installed to remove of 1,4-dioxane concentrations. Granular activated carbon filters will be used to remove concentrations of 1,2,3-trichloropropane and trichloroethylene. In addition, a building addition will be constructed to house new chemical feed equipment. All treatment processes are required to comply with current or proposed drinking water standards except for 1,4-dioxane.
