Seaside Park Borough recently closed on a $2,359,806 loan with the New Jersey Water Bank for a phased sanitary sewer replacement project. This phase will consist of the replacement of a failing sanitary sewer system consisting of approximately 9,400 linear feet of PVC Sanitary Sewer.
The sanitary sewer main has reached the end of its useful life and has been repaired in several locations under emergency conditions. The age and material of the pipes entails skilled repair work to avoid further damage during replacement. The collapse of the mains can cause sewer blockages and backups that could expose residents to raw sewage. The area is in a flood zone and close to open waterways that feed the Barnegat Bay. The water table is high in the project area, increasing the potential for water infiltration. The project will include the construction of new sanitary sewer manholes, PVC sanitary pipe, and new laterals with clean-outs.
