Shore Water Company recently closed on a $500,000 loan with the NJ Water Bank to repair and repaint an existing 75,000-gallon elevated water storage tank in Berkeley Township. The tank provides potable water service through approximately 1,270 service connections, sourced from one Cohansey aquifer well and two Piney Point aquifer wells. Last painted in 2011, the tank shows signs of corrosion and failure of the existing coating.
The proposed project consists of the full sandblast treatment of the tank, inside and out, along with repainting and metal repair work as proposed by MBA Associates, a privately hired firm that inspected the tank. The tank will be shrouded using tarps and scaffolding to protect surrounding homes from dust and debris. This project will ensure protection of the tank's structural integrity by addressing corrosion and preventing future deterioration of the tank interior which could impact water quality. This project will ensure that Berkeley Township water quality continues to meet all State and Federal requirements.
